The Hand On Your Shoulder
We were never meant to take on this life alone
Were given so much in our loving homes
Yet so many times it’s just never enough
Life beats you down and you try to be tough
Struggling to hold your head up high
Never letting the world see you cry
As you think your time is nearly over
A warm hand rests upon your shoulder
A hand of someone that knows you best
That’s been there with you through out every test
That same person who knows your dreams
Who’s taken this life on in this two-man team
Has helped you with all of your fears
Lets you know its ok to shed a few tears
Will always and truly have your back
When the rest of the world is on the attack
Is there to pick you up when you stumble
Goes down with you when you’re in trouble
There to mend your broken heart
Gives you that push when you just wont start
Time after time is your guiding light
When darkness hides all that’s right
Helps you be honest and true
Who with out, you just wouldn’t be you
Their hands have helped with your mold
Their voice forever says what’s needed to be told
Knows how to give you your smile
Their absence makes life all that greater of a trial
Knowing you have them is all you’ll ever need
Forever is at your side no matter your speed
Helps you to clearly see
Continually sets you free
Because life couldn’t be done
With out at least one
How great it is that God created them
Someone for you to call your very best friend
